2011 Year In Review

No Comments Uncategorized

Greetings Galaxy,

2011 was the most amazing year of my life and I owe so so much of that to you. We really finished the foundation we have spent years laying down and people are taking notice. We performed at many venues including many of the top places in the Harrisburg area (The Abbey Bar and Gullifty’s). We also released 2 very important studio projects. The first was the “Five Deadly Venoms” EP which dropped in March. That project was very significant because it not only showcased my growth as an artist but as a producer as well. I got a chance to experiment with my flow and really push myself as a writer. I was also able to collaborate with a very close friend and artists known as Knoxx (www.reverbnation.com/hbgknoxx). Knoxx and I have a high level of respect for each other’s craft and he has given me the honor of producing the bulk of his album, “Loves Reflection In A Broken Mirror”,  due March 16, 2012.

The “FDV” EP was also significant because it marked the first collaboration between Jason Sullivan  and I. Jason is one of the most amazing, talented and humble artists I have ever met. Jason would go on to create the visuals for my biggest project to date, my debut album “Saturn Synopsis”. The lead-off single for the album is a song called “Forever”. This song has easily been the most significant of my catalog. It is a collaboration with 3 amazing artists/friends/family – Jason Shaffer, Zack Gingrich and Sean Saman. These gentlemen have been crucial to my career and I owe a bulk of the success of this year to them. They poured their heart/soul/energy/vibes into this song and made it what I would consider a masterpiece. The song has garnered a lot of attention and opened the door for some incredible opportunities. We received our very first radio spins on 88.9 WQSU The Pulse and had a chance to do a live interview/performance on the “Home Made Jam” radio show hosted by Terry & Rand. Terry is an amazing woman and has really gone out on a limb for us and digs the movement. She is one of the first people outside of the camp to take a chance and for that we are very grateful. We also have been featured on a few blogs, the biggest being a feature article/interview for PAmusicscene.com. Jason Shaffer put us in touch with Gina Tutko and she was generous enough to listen to the music and share our story.

This year also marked the release of our first ever music video “Forever”. The video was shot/directed/edited by the übertalented Sam Kpakiwa and Silent K Pictures. Sam is one of the most creative and knowledgeable people I have had the pleasure of working with. He truly believes in our music and we have a lot of plans for the visual aspect of the revolution. Fingers-crossed, I will also be creating the music and score for his upcoming independent film, set to start shooting in 2012.

Another major accomplishment and life-long dream was accomplished when I finally collaborated with one of my oldest and best friends, Godwin Benjamin aka GodChild. Him and I got into music at a very young age and have always encouraged and supported each other as we came up in the universe of Art. We have been friends since 5th grade and always knew that we would work together. We wanted to make sure that the timing was right and that we were both in the perfect space to create amazing music/art. The resulting collaboration is one of my favorite songs I have ever done, “Heights”. This song is one of the stand-outs from “Saturn Synopsis” and will be the next single, launching in 2012. All I will reveal about this visual is that it will be a Mini-Doc/Music Video featuring real people like you and I who are grinding out chasing a dream and providing a better life for their family. The vibe and energy of this track has us already in talks to work on a joint EP in the near future.

With all that being said, I must again say that none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for you. This year has proven that my theory of art as 2-way expression holds so true. We have all been connecting and vibing and that has made for the most creative and amazing space I have ever been in. I am so inspired by everybody out there. Your life, story, accomplishments, failures, goals, dreams, hopes, thoughts and wishes serve a constant fuel for my music and creativity. I pull from everyone I come in contact with and for that I am forever grateful. You all truly mean everything to me and I promise to continue to keep it true and inspirational. 2012 is going to be an even bigger year than 2011 and I will not stop until we are out there and our voices are heard. I will be collaborating with some amazing artists from all different styles and sounds. I am also working on new music and plan to possibly drop a single from our new EP before the end of the year. There are also some projects I will be working on as a producer with sounds ranging from hip-hop to country and many things in between. We also plan to hit the road heavy so hopefully I will be touching down in a city near you.

Thank you for listening to me go on and on in this review of 2011. I look forward to continuing to vibe out with you all and hopefully inspire you to continue to chase your dreams. Please send me messages and videos and don’t be afraid to tell me your story. I do this for all of us so it is important to me to know more about you. If there is anything I can do please let me know. Keep your head in the stars and never be afraid of heights. We are here and don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. We are the REVOLUTION!!!!
